Import Guide

Move from Yoast, Rank Math or AIOSEO without treating migration like a leap of faith.

SEO-WP imports conservatively: dry-run first, paginate large migrations and never overwrite an SEO-WP field that already has a value.

Yoast SEO High-confidence site settings
Rank Math Metadata + moderate-confidence settings
All in One SEO Object & taxonomy data

Back up first

Create a current database/site backup before changing the SEO layer.

Install SEO-WP alongside the source

Do not delete the source plugin before you know what will migrate.

Run detection

Open SEO-WP → Import and verify the detected source.

Dry run

Preview counts and mappings without writing.

Spot-check representative URLs

Check posts, pages, taxonomies, products and multilingual content.

Run the real import

Use the paginated importer and keep the progress log.

Review exceptions

Rank Math Schema mappings require spot-checking. Redirects are flagged rather than blindly migrated.

Choose cut-over or coexistence

Yoast and Rank Math can remain active in Coexistence Mode while SEO-WP suppresses duplicate output.

Verify frontend output

Inspect title, description, canonical, robots, Open Graph, JSON-LD and sitemaps.

Deactivate only when verified

Then deactivate the previous SEO plugin if full cut-over is the goal.

What SEO-WP deliberately does not guess.

A safe importer should know when not to be clever.

  • Existing SEO-WP fields are not overwritten
  • Redirect rules are not auto-migrated
  • Low-confidence global settings are not invented
  • Schema mappings that may change meaning are flagged for review
  • The importer is safe to re-run
