Installation & first run
Install and activate SEO-WP like any WordPress plugin. The plugin is designed to avoid changing unrelated WordPress behavior merely because it was activated.
Search appearance
Configure title and description templates by content type and taxonomy. Supported familiar tokens include %title%, %sitename%, %sep%, %excerpt%, %category%, %date%, %page% and %year%. Per-object fields override templates.
Structured data
SEO-WP assembles a single deduplicated JSON-LD graph. Configure site identity as Organization, Person or LocalBusiness, then let page-level nodes reference that identity instead of generating unrelated fragments.
Sitemaps
Enable the sitemap families you need. Post type and taxonomy inclusion is configurable; image/video discovery can use rendered output for builder compatibility; Google News is optional.
Crawl & indexing
Manage virtual robots.txt, llms.txt, verification tags, archives, attachments, staging noindex, IndexNow, Google Indexing API, redirects and the 404 monitor from one technical layer.
Multilingual SEO
WPML and Polylang relationships can generate confirmed hreflang. For physically separate WordPress installations, use Slim Hreflang and its SEO-WP contract.
Audits & reports
Duplicate Content Checker looks for effective metadata collisions. Content Freshness identifies aging content. Persistent Link Audit performs background link analysis. Diagnostics consolidates detected site problems.
Performance
Performance switches are opt-in. Use them only when they match your stack. Critical CSS and resource hints remain explicit rather than opaque automation.
External services
IndexNow, Google Indexing API, Anthropic, OpenAI and DeepL are optional. SEO-WP does not require a proprietary SEO-WP cloud account to provide its core technical functionality.
